Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 7, 2026
1. Introduction
Are You Fucking Alive ("AYFA", the "App") is operated by PeakyApps Ltd. ("PeakyApps", "we", "us", or "our"), a company registered in England and Wales.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use our App. By using AYFA, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
2. Data We Collect
We collect only the information necessary to provide the service:
2.1 Account Information
- Name and email address — received from your authentication provider (Google or Apple) when you sign in.
- User ID — a unique identifier generated for your account.
2.2 App Data
- Check-in history — timestamps of your daily check-ins.
- Connection data — your connections (watchers) and their status.
- Check-in deadline preference — your configured alert window.
2.3 Device Data
- Timezone — automatically detected from your device to schedule check-in windows correctly.
- Push notification token — used to deliver alerts to your device.
2.4 Analytics
- Usage analytics — anonymised data about how you interact with the App, collected via PostHog. This does not include personally identifiable information.
3. How We Use Your Data
Your data is used solely to provide and improve the AYFA service:
- Core service delivery — managing your account, recording check-ins, and sending missed check-in alerts to your connections.
- Notifications — delivering push notifications for check-in reminders and alerts.
- Service improvement — understanding usage patterns through anonymised analytics to improve the App.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
4. Data Sharing
We share your data only in the following limited circumstances:
- Your connections — your check-in status is shared only with people you have approved as connections. They see whether you have checked in, not your location or other personal details.
- Authentication providers — Google and Apple process your sign-in data under their own privacy policies.
- Push notification services — Apple Push Notification Service (APNs) and Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) process notification delivery on our behalf.
- Analytics — PostHog processes anonymised usage data on our behalf.
- Legal requirements — we may disclose data if required by law or to protect our legal rights.
We do not share your personal information with advertisers.
5. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely on servers with industry-standard protections, including:
- Encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data in transit.
- Authentication tokens are securely managed and never stored in plain text.
- Access to production data is restricted to authorised personnel only.
While we take reasonable steps to protect your data, no system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Data Retention
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. Specifically:
- Account deletion — when you delete your account (via Settings or by contacting us), all your personal data, check-in history, and connection records are permanently removed from our systems.
- Inactive accounts — we may remove accounts that have been inactive for an extended period, with prior notice sent to your registered email.
7. Your Rights
Under applicable data protection laws (including the UK GDPR), you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification — request correction of inaccurate data.
- Erasure — request deletion of your data (you can also do this directly from the App's Settings page).
- Portability — request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Objection — object to processing of your data in certain circumstances.
- Withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected].
8. Children's Privacy
AYFA is not intended for children under the age of 16 (or the minimum digital consent age in your jurisdiction, whichever is higher). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will:
- Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
- Notify you via in-app notification or email where appropriate.
Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
